Spring Festival 2021

Yes, it is time to enjoy the Spring weather.  Camp is starting to get green and new life is popping up everywhere.  With Spring comes one of our favorite events: the Spring Festival.  Last year we had an awesome time with many individuals and congregations participating.  The income for the event was record breaking and really paved the way for a year of generosity that continues to sustain the ministry of camp as we gear up for another year.  Did you hear that there is going to be summer camp?  Yippee!

Like last year, you can participate wherever en whenever you choose.  Our hope is to get as many friends involved with our Dunk the Dunkard, Hike-in-Place-A-Thon,  and any other kind of special event that your congregation decides to do.  So, plan on dunking your pastor or other good sport, hiking or running a 5k or more, to benefit camp, or do whatever you do best.  It might be a chicken bbq, a yard sale, bake sale or whatever your heart desires.

Check out the flyers below and start planning today!  Thanks for your continued support of Brethren Woods.  We have the most awesome friends.

These two sister raised $170 by hiking around their house!

Lexi raised almost $500 with her three mile hike and made fun videos!

The Century Ride raised more than $1500

Larry Glick did a three mile hike, he raised over $1000!

Pastor Nathan Completed his half marathon and raised over $1600

I am excited to share that the Spring Festival Hike-a-Thon is still on!  Our hope is that campers, camp reps, and other friends of camp will get sponsors to support them and do their own personal or family hike (approx. 3 miles, but who’s counting?) to benefit camp.  Use the new flyer that is attached to raise funds.  You just have to find a place to hike that is safe and is in compliance with current mandates.

We are also looking for creative ways to still have the Dunk the Dunkard booth!  You creative folks could do a modified dunking booth right where you are by encouraging your pastor or other church member to be dunked or I guess in this case poured.  It’s a “bucket challenge” for 2021!  Once again, a new flyer is attached to this letter.  Who wants to volunteer…or volunteer someone else?

Brethren Woods has always depended on the generosity of our congregations and individuals throughout the Shenandoah District.  In this season that is true even more.  We would love if we could all be together  to celebrate, but we can’t.  The upcoming seasons of camp’s ministry can’t wait until we can be together again to benefit from your support.  So, if we could get about 100 people to each raise $200 (or more!) with the Hike-a-Thon at home and about 25 people to each raise $200 (or more) for a  modified Bucket Dunk, it would help us prepare to move forward with camp’s ministry.
