What an amazing day it was for the 24th Annual Brethren Woods and Elzie Morris Memorial Golf Blast. The fundraising event was held at Lakeview Golf Club on September 7. Early arrivers participated in a putting contest, warmed up on the range, and purchased mulligans, red tees, gimme strings, and throws. At the 8:30 tee off 27 carts left to hit the links. Participants had a “blast”, enjoyed the beautiful day, the fellowship with their friends, posting very low scores, and supporting Brethren Woods.
Look at the score cards that are posted to see who had the lowest scores in each flight. Yes, you see it right, one group had a 44. Wow! Scott Smiley won the prizes for the longest drive and the putting contest. Larry Haaland won the closest to the pin prize.
Patty Sturrock, camp Food Service Manager, and her wonderful helpers prepared a great meal that was enjoyed by everyone. The meal included pork bbq, coleslaw, cheesy potatoes, green beans, rolls, éclair cake and drinks. Yum! Joe Morris, grandson of Elzie Morris, donated and prepared the awesome pork barbeque.
The tournament netted over $26,000.00 to support the camp ministry. Thank you to all golfers, sponsors, prize donors, sponsor recruiters, registration helpers Patrick and Judy, our professional photographer Cori, camp staff, and others who made the day a huge success. Y’all make Brethren Woods a reality! See you again next year!
