Spring Festival 2020

All of our lives have changed dramatically in the last number of weeks. There are many things that we always do that we can't. The Spring Festival is one of those those events that didn't happen this year..... or did it? The answer is yes it did and it is still happening.

Camp friends are all doing their part to make the Spring Festival a success with 5K walks and runs, a half marathon, and funds donated. At the moment 15 pastors are lined up for the Dunk the Dunkard Bucket Challenge or to contribute in some way.

If 20 Pastors agree to do something for the Spring Festival and friends of camp raise $1,000.00, Doug will be tractor poured. You can send a check to the camp or go online to donate. Doug needs to get wet. He also needs a haircut.

Awesome Ideas

You can click on the pictures below to see what other people have been doing to raise money for Brethren Woods:

These two sister raised $170 by hiking around their house!

Lexi raised almost $500 with her three mile hike and made fun videos!

This bikeride has raised almost $400

Larry Glick did a three mile hike, he raised over $1000!

Pastor Nathan Completed his half marathon and raised over $1600

I am excited to share that the Spring Festival Hike-a-Thon is still on!  Our hope is that campers, camp reps, and other friends of camp will get sponsors to support them and do their own personal or family hike (approx. 3 miles, but who’s counting?) to benefit camp.  Use the new flyer that is attached to raise funds.  You just have to find a place to hike that is safe and is in compliance with current mandates.

We are also looking for creative ways to still have the Dunk the Dunkard booth!  You creative folks could do a modified dunking booth right where you are by encouraging your pastor or other church member to be dunked or I guess in this case poured.  It’s a “bucket challenge” for 2020!  Once again, a new flyer is attached to this letter.  Who wants to volunteer…or volunteer someone else?

The auction is one of the most popular events at the Spring Festival, so we are planning a Facebook auction for items donated to the camp. Get your items to camp soon!

Brethren Woods has always depended on the generosity of our congregations and individuals throughout the Shenandoah District.  In this season that is true even more.  We would love if we could all be together on April 25th to celebrate, but we can’t.  The upcoming seasons of camp’s ministry can’t wait until we can be together again to benefit from your support.  So, if we could get about 100 people to each raise $200 (or more!) with the Hike-a-Thon at home and about 25 people to each raise $200 (or more) for a  modified Bucket Dunk, it would help us prepare to move forward with camp’s ministry.
