What: Renewing Our Faith Outdoors Dinner
For: Everyone who wants to support the ministry of Brethren Woods
When: Sunday, December 8th 2019
Cost: $75.00 individual tickets - $600.00 per table of 8
Join your friends at Brethren Woods December 8, 2019 for our annual fund raising dinner. It’s a great evening to celebrate outdoor ministry in the Shenandoah District. Table sponsorships are $600.00 and individual tickets are $75.00. The evening starts at 5:00 pm with hordeurves followed by dinner at 5:30 pm prepared by Patty Sturrock and kitchen staff. We will enjoy music by Jessica Crawford, hear inspirational thoughts from camp staff and friends, honor our volunteer of the year and go out with joy! See you there!
Musical entertainment will be provided by Jessica Crawford. Jessica was born into a family of deep faith and of rich musical history. Despite her family's encouragement, Jessica struggled to see that the musical legacy from both sides of her family was establishing a future for her in music. After a painful relationship left her seeking true purpose, Jessica finally surrendered to what can only be described as a persistent "call" to music. She traveled through the United States, with stops at Eastern Mennonite Seminary, Nashville, and New Jersey. In 2019 she came home again to the beautiful Shenandoah Valley of Virginia after seven years of following the journey that music led her on. To read her full bio, go to her website.
2018 Renewing Our Faith Outdoors Dinner Recap
Over one hundred people attended the annual Renewing Our Faith Outdoors dinner on December 2. Pine Grove was decorated for the season and was a warm and inviting space. We are grateful for the support of many camp friends and businesses and who made the evening a success by raising over $9,000.00.
Patty, the camp food service manager, and kitchen volunteers, Kevin Turner, Megan Shepherd and Megan Babcock, prepared an amazing meal that got rave reviews from guests. Later in the evening Patty received a ten year Staff Award and Kevin received the Volunteer of the Year award. I guess you can say that we have an award winning kitchen staff! Terry Slaubaugh received the Millie Mundy Service Award. Terry has spent a lifetime helping at Brethren Woods. He has served as the Camp Manager, Outdoor Ministries Committee Member and Chairperson, Capital Campaign member, Treasurer, faithful financial supporter, and as a great encourager. Thank you Terry!
The Walking Roots Band shared their gift of music with guests, and by all of the positive comments, was enjoyed by everyone. The message, the harmony, and the humor that all pointed to the love of God in Christ was an inspiration. Other highlights were sharing by Pieter Tramper, Dylan Werle, John Jantzi and Bruce Bowman. The message of the value of our Outdoor Ministries program was proclaimed.
It was a great evening of food, fun, and fellowship to celebrate 60 years of ministry at Brethren Woods. If you missed it you should plan to join us in December 8 2019, or if you want to celebrate the next 60 years, that would be December 2078.
